I saw
[Alpine Pool on tour] today (here in San Diego, CA) and purchased the Exhibit
book for American Impressionists Abroad and at Home.
The photo
in the book does a complete injustice to the painting. I would like to see a
photo on the web that truly brings out the richness.... | GA | igrkio

My
great-grandmother, Margaret O'Regan [later Margaret Beaton], was a companion to
John Singer Sargent's mother in London for the year before she died. After Mrs.
Sargent died, she stayed on as companion to Emily. She remembered modelling for

Pharaoh of Egypt. The Egyptian's... | GA | igrkio

Baroness de Meyer 1907 Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery Birmingham, UK |
In 1907,
the Baroness de Meyer was painted
in Venice by Sargent's friend William Bruce Ranken (1881-1941). It very
well could have been in Venice where Sargent sketched her.
