The dating is a little odd to me. At least to me, it seems
the painting would be more in line with his earlier venice work. I guess the
dedication (what ever it is I can't read) has helped peg the date.

studio around 1901 and that Julie Heynman, a student of Sargent at the time,
was also the first owner of this painting (McKibbin Papers, quoted in Ormond
