Miss Elsie
Palmer later Mrs. L. H. Myers (1873-1955). She was the daughter of a wealthy
expatriate American from Colorado.
Mrs. Palmer had rented the Ightham Mote house near Kent of which Sargent
became a frequent guest. It was here that he also painted A Game of Bowls.

year Sargent painted Robert
Farquharson. According to Charles Merrill Mount, the painting is also
inscribed: "To my friend Mr. Farquharson", 24 x 20 ½ , and as
of the 1950's the painting was held with the family.
