Bischoff's paintings are remarkable for their brilliant use of color. In MOUNT ALICE AT SUNSET, painted circa 1920, Bischoff shows the craggy granite monolith in tones of pink, red and mauve, with occasional green hightlights, next to white and blue snow, all superimposed on a mustard colored sky. In spite of these provocative and irritable colors, the scene perfectly captures the effect of a late afternoon glow in the High Sierras.
