He displays great activity in the Franco-American artistic circles: board member of the Section of Fine Arts at the Universal Exhibition of 1889 in Paris, it is also one of the founders and vice-president of The influential Paris Society of American Painters. In 1885 he moved to Auvers-sur-Oise where he died in 1914.
