Artwork Description

Howes Goldsborough (1775-1841) was twenty-four years old when he sat for this miniature. He married Mary Rodgers, daughter of Commodore Rodgers of Sion Hall, Harford County, Maryland, in 1812. Mary Rodgers was George Washington Rodgers’ sister, and his miniature, painted by an unidentified artist, is in this collection [see 1950.4.32].
