Mission
The Montana Museum of Art & Culture acquires and preserves art that expresses the spirit of the American West and its relationship to the world. As a university and state museum, MMAC presents exhibitions and educational programs that explore local, regional and global themes.

*Creators of a legacy for future generations by honoring, preserving and developing the Permanent Collection through creating a new MMAC facility. 

History
Located on The University of Montana campus in Missoula, MMAC is one of the state's oldest and most prominent cultural reserves. The museum's Permanent Collection, begun in 1894, includes more than 11,000 original works. MMAC, formerly the Museum of Fine Arts, and formerly administered by the School of Fine Arts, became a state museum in 2001 and is now structured as a unit of the Office of the Provost.
