The Castle Blérancourt (Former Dukes of Gesvres) is a castle has Blérancourt in the Aisne . It houses the National Museum of Franco-American cooperation, closed for renovation until late 2012.
History
Built from 1612 to plans by the architect Salomon de Brosse stone and ditched 3 , it was declared as national property in the French Revolution , and was heavily damaged during the First World War . At the end of it, it housed the headquarters for the relief organization brought civilians then was transformed in the inter-war museum.
It is now the National Museum of Franco-American cooperation and Gardens New World .
Protection
The building was protected as historical monuments in four tranches between 1925 and 2002 .
The door, and the two corner pavilions, the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 2 April 1925 .
The ensemble of the great door, and the two façades and roofs two houses side by side, the subject of a classification as historical monumentssince 19 August 1932 .
The stone door called "the garden" is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 16 May 1933 .
Walls and protections (the bridge, moat, terrace, fence walls surrounding the gardens), as well as common ground parts of archaeological interest are listed by order of 28 September 2001 in the first place. This set is revised, and the subject of a registration under the historical monuments from the 1 st February 2002 4 .

The National Museum of Franco-American cooperation is established in the Castle.
It was founded in 1924 by Anne Morgan in Blérancourt. Then called Franco-American Historical Museum, the museum and its collections will then be given to the common Blérancourt and in 1931 became the National Museum of Franco-American cooperation.
The museum houses a collection of works of art relating to the birth of the Franco-American XVIII th century and artistic exchanges between the two countries XIX th and XX th centuries. It also hosts memories of the First World War and the photographs and films of the documentary Anne Morgan.
The museum has been a first renovation campaign in 1989 by the architects Yves Lion and Alan Lewitt. A second phase of renovation and expansion began in 2006. Designed by Yves Lion again and Alan Lewitt, it will increase the exhibition space by 50%. The museum is not open to the public until 2012.
Gardens
The gardens have different plants from North America.
A complete arboretum garden and a collection of remarkable American species that have been selected for their autumn colors: maple , oak , sweetgum, magnolia Virginia.
