Bernard R. Brown Fine Art specializes in Nineteenth and early Twentieth century American paintings including Hudson River School, Luminist, Pre-Raphaelite and Impressionist styles.

Area of Specialty

Bernard R. Brown has focused his attention on paintings of Lake George and the Adirondacks. Having begun over twenty years ago as an art collector he quickly grew into a position as a dealer and advisor to clients acquiring fine art. We advise private collectors as well as Museums in matters of provenance, exhibition history, research and condition. We also assist clients with advice on restoration and framing.

The Painting Market

We believe that investment opportunities exist in our areas of specialty, particularly if paintings are carefully chosen to represent the artist's best work. Condition of a work, provenance, subject matter and date are often overlooked by beginning collectors. We will advise clients on the relative value of different works being considered for purchase.

Inventory

We have carefully selected works for our inventory that reflect our high standards of quality and condition. As we believe in keeping inventory as "fresh" as possible, many works available for sale are not listed on our website. If you are interested in knowing more about works which are for sale please contact us to arrange a mutually convenient time to view the paintings.

We are always interested in acquiring paintings of similar quality to those we represent.

All works listed on this site are subject to prior sale.

Client Services

We would be pleased to represent your specific needs by acting as your agent in acquiring works for your collection in the event that they are not available in our inventory.
