In 1979, Howard Godel decided to take a leap-of-faith. At the precocious age of 21, Mr. Godel was already a national authority on toy trains, and having mastered that, he felt the need for a new challenge. He was introduced to the world of the Hudson River School artists, and from that point knew where his true passion lay. Starting from scratch, Mr. Godel began buying and selling paintings, building up a strong network of clients and dealers. Throughout the years, Mr. Godel was able to purchase higher and higher quality works, and now has one of the most extensive inventories of renowned American painters. Mr. Godel has established one of New York's foremost art galleries, specializing not only in the Hudson River School, but also in other nineteenth- and early twentieth- century American art.
