(1839 - 1875)

Little is known about the artist Bradford Freeman.  During the 1860 Boston census, he was 21 years old and living with his parents and sister in Boston.   Consistent with the few paintings he is known to have painted, he died at an early age in 1875.  He exhibited with Benjamin Champney (1817-1907) as evidenced by the following excerpt (pictured) from the Boston Daily Evening Transcript of Thursday, April 23, 1868: "Champney is busy getting pictures ready for his sale next week, in conjunction with Bricher, Johnston, and Freeman."  He died in Boston in March, 1875 of dropsy.
